Noma Yini Nja Yam!

I recently got a DM ("direct message" for all you who have not learnt twitter lingo yet!) on my twitter account @Supersuccess_O and it read: "Wola Maestro! I am looking for a job in entertainment. Please help?!"

I then replied requesting the guy, who I will just call Sipho for his privacy, requesting him to give me specific details of how he wanted me to help as well as what exactly he was looking for in entertainment.

His reply: "I do everything in entertainment. Noma yini nja yam!", loosely translating to: anything will work my dogg!

While I admire Sipho's willingness to go out and find whatever is available that will advance his dreams, I have experienced that that attitude to your goals will only exhaust you and leave all your efforts unfruitful.

When I started out in entertainment, I knew exactly where I wanted to end up, but I commited the same crime to myself as Sipho is to himself. I went out and scavenged for anything I could get with hopes that I will bump into the "perfect opportunity". Needless to say, I searched for a long time!

This was only until one of my mentors told me these words that I have coveted to this day:

LIFE IS WILLING TO GIVE WHATEVER YOU ASK FOR IF YOU ARE WILLING TO PAY THE PRICE!

 

 

Most of us go through life, sometimes understandably because of desperation, taking anything that comes our way.

 

But this only depletes energy that could be so well utilised on a focused area! Take a moment and think about the captains of the industry you're in or are looking to take over. More often than not these are the people who have mastered one area of the industry so much that the title "expert" fits them! And these are the people you dial first when you are looking for expert consultation, quality service and product!

 

 

I believe that this is because at some point they had to decide to ask life for one specific thing, focus on making that one thing work and worked on it until it took precise shape!

 

 

All of us, atleast those with ambition, are looking for the recognition, pride and rewards that come with being called an industry captain! But the trick is to figure out, atleast for now, how to get as much knowledge, expertise and how to take the game higher than it has ever been taken by anyone! That is the trick!

 

Oh and my friend Sipho; I replied and said

 

"Mfowethu, imisebenzi yona ikhona engiyaziyo. Kodwa lona owufunayo, cha agiwazi."

 

If "anything" is what you are looking for in this life, lo and behold, that is what life will willingly give you: NOMA YINI NJA YAMI!

DECIDE TO GO ABOVE THE AVERAGE

The mark of championship seems always to be EXCELLENCE... Always.

All the people I look up to are people who seem always to be able to pioneer change seemlessly!

These are individuals who, despite their backgrounds, overcome toil and adversity! So many of us want these characteristics, we want to overcome challenges and, like they say, "roll with the punches"!

But, we don't always exhibit bravery in the face of challenge... Why?

I decided to accept that at times, one will be scared.. Actually, when you're feeling a little scarded, you know that you're out of your comfort zone and that is your true place of growth!

Being scared, however, should not stop you from excelling! 

Decide today, that despite how you feel, you will beat the odds! Go above average!

Excellence in its nature, is not immune to challenges, but is excellent DESPITE!

When you decide to be excellent, you decide to stand out! Let it be known that you're not here to be a statistic. Let it be known that you're not here to add on to the population! Decide to be that first person in your family who will rise above the pack!

Ditch the survival mentality... Go for Supersuccess!

Stay On Course!

A while back chatting to a man wiser than I, I asked him this question "How have you managed to thrive in the face of failure?"

His reponse was simple and powerful "I stayed on course". The truth is that dreaming is simple, enjoyable even! Every one dreams! But like someone said, "For the dream to materialise, you have to wake up!"

How simple yet true! The one thing that distinguishes GREAT from average, is that GREAT expects, from the word go, to fail! Average thinks that a well planned and thought out plan is proof from failure!

The sooner all of us realise that failure is impersonal, we can "get a move on" much quicker and really do much better!

But it is really all up to you to stay on course when the storm hits!

Here is the power point: YOU ARE GOING TO FAIL! WHEN YOU DO, FAIL AS QUICK AS YOU CAN AND RISE UP AS QUICK AS YOU CAN!

I have made this my personal failure response ( you know like the automated "out of office email reply" ? )

LOL!!! BRB!!!

Its a much better way to bounce back!

Why some resolutions wont last beyond the 2nd month of the year..

Happy New Year, if you are reading this, I congratulate you! You have made it to another clean canvas on to which you will choose what to paint!

I am certain that you also have dreams, hopes, resolutions (whatever you choose to call em')

Sadly though, more often than not, most of these do not make it beyond February in the new year!

Why?

Simple: THE REASON BEHIND YOUR RESOLUTION!

It is pretty simple to say "I'll lose weight"! But when Winter comes it is going to be much simpler to say "I'm just not going to gym! Its cold and I can't be eating green salad,!"

The truth is, if your reason behind losing the weight was much more long term in its benefits, that would provide more than enough motivation to keep momentum!

I'm not going to say much, you probably should go back to planning your year, but consider this...

YOU WANT A BETTER PAYING JOB?
YOU WANT TO LOSE WEIGHT?
YOU WANT TO ATTAIN THAT LUCRATIVE CONTRACT FOR YOUR BUSINESS?

WHY?

Your "WHY" will give fuel to your "HOW"!

If your "WHY" is weak, you'll probably find that piece of paper you wrote your goals on in September when you do Spring cleaning and go "daym, I wrote this?"
